A journey through the evolution of hospitality in Albania told through the story of Nouvelle Vague, one of the projects that helped redefine the country’s cocktail culture.
From the fall of the communist regime in the 1990s to the return of a new generation of hospitality professionals bringing back international experience and vision, the seminar explores how cultural identity, entrepreneurship, and global influence transformed the Albanian bar scene.
Through the evolution of Nouvelle Vague — now a community, movement, and multi-venue project — the session will address topics such as team leadership, sustainability, contemporary identity, and the social role of hospitality in shaping a new cultural landscape.
Sofokli Cali is the co-owner of Nouvelle Vague in the capital of Albania, Tirana. The first ever bar from the Balkans to make it in the list of the WORLDS 50 BEST BARS ranked 28. A tireless promoter of the Albanian emerging cocktail scene, Sofokli, is the organiser of the “TIRANA COCKTAIL FEST” an international event that gathers some of the world’s best bars to serve their signature cocktails to the local crowd and “a MUSE us”, an event which gathered in Tirana some of the most important women of the industry to speak up and to inspire about their role in hospitality.
In 2024, Sofokli was voted as one of the Bar World 100 most influential figures by Drinks International Magazine.
